The Cliffs Over Maple Bay |

Fifty kilometres north of Victoria in the Cowichan Valley, a
truly spectacular 18-hole championship golf course and residential
community is taking shape.
The Cliffs Over Maple Bay, designed by none other than Greg
Norman, is slated for completion in 2008. This promises to be
one of the most memorable layouts in the province. Views here
stretch from the Strait of Georgia toward Vancouver to the mountains
and lakes of the Cowichan Valley for a magnificent vista of
more than 210 degrees.
On the real estate side, a registered building scheme is in
place for the entire property. Of the 360 lots available, only
18 do not have a view of the ocean, lake, and/or golf course.
There will also be 215 multi-family condominium units built.
Initial phases are already in pre-registration.
Construction of the 6,891-yard, par 72 layout is also well underway.
Paul Garvie, previously involved with the Nicklaus-designed
Bear Mountain Golf Course in Victoria, is the onsite representative
for the construction of the course.
The Cliffs has also signed a five-year agreement with the very
highly regarded Troon Golf, a golf management company based
out of Scottsdale, Arizona. Troon Golf has an unsurpassed reputation
for quality and excellence and currently manages more than 160
top golf facilities, including a number of Greg Norman designs.
Plans are also currently underway for the development of a four-to-five-star
hotel, and preliminary indications suggest accommodation in
the form of 50 to 75 luxury rooms with a potential for as many
as 200 quarter shares.
